MLK fought for a “guaranteed income” in 1968 – Andrew Yang is fighting for one today

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wanted to end poverty in America, and he believed that one solution was to implement a “guaranteed income” for all Americans—what we call a universal basic income today. Kyle Christensen is part of a pilot program for Andrew Yang’s Freedom Dividend, which would give every American adult $1,000 a month free and clear, paid for by taking a tiny sliver of the corporate gains from automation.
